Blog Post 10-15

In the chapters 10-15 a lot of events happened. Scout thinks the Atticus is starting to get old and needs to live a little. Jem cuts off the top of Mrs. Dubose's flowers and he needs to read for a month to get over it. Also Aunt Alexandra came to stay at this house with Atticus and the kids. Alexandra believes that Calpurnia should leave the house because she is a bad influence on the children.

Mrs. Dubose is a very courageous character. She used to be addicted to morphene and she gets sick. It took her a while to get rid of her addiction but eventually, she finally got rid of it. She has obviously faced difficulty when dealing with staying away and getting off of her addiction. She also faced a lot of danger while doing morphene but she faced the danger and figured out a way to stop it. Pain is probably the biggest one because she was so dependent on the morphene for so long. She painfully got the addiction to stop. The most courageous thing though is when Mrs. Dubose is offered morphene. She is sick and is dying but she vowed to never take morphene again. Her strength and courage to pass that up and then eventually pass away makes her one of the most courageous people Atticus knew.

I thought these chapters was a good reading. A lot of events happen that shape the kids lives' and Atticus'. Also Mrs. Dubose passes and we learn a lot about willpower and addiction. I definitely look forward to keep reading the book and learning more about the kids' life.
